Have an Attitude of Gratitude

As preparations for Thanksgiving are underway, let’s take a moment to understand what this holiday is all about. Thanksgiving – Giving Thanks.

How many of us truly give thanks for what we have, who we are and where we came from? Not just on this day, but every day. Some might think that they have nothing to be grateful for, but in the words of Dr. Wayne Dyer, “be in a state of gratitude for everything that shows up in your life.”

Yes, everything, including those things that we think are negative, hurtful or sad. We’ve all heard the saying, “when one door closes, another door opens.”  The challenge here is to stop looking at the closed door. Instead, look for the next one to open. Anticipate great things. Expect them, appreciate them and enjoy them when they happen.

Most of us will spend this weekend with family and friends.  Some may choose to travel, others may take the opportunity to enjoy a period of introspection. Whatever your plans may be, remember to take a moment to say “thank you” to yourself, to God and to all those important people in your life. The path to true gratitude begins from within. It may not be the easiest path but it will be the most fulfilling.

Take a moment this weekend to try this Gratitude Meditation.

Happy Thanksgiving and thank you, thank you, thank you!!
